Privacy notice
How LINKRIGHTS handles information, in plain language.
1. No accounts, except a Google sign-in for the community
LINKRIGHTS has no sign-up. You need no personal details to read rights information, ask the AI or use a checklist. A field for contact details appears only when you send a question or an enquiry, and for questions you may leave it empty. Only one place, the community, uses a Google sign-in, and only to write a post or a comment. Even there we do not request or store your name, email or profile picture. You can read without signing in.
2. AI questions and answers are not stored on our server
Your question is sent to the AI service (OpenAI) to produce an answer. Neither the question nor the answer is stored on the LINKRIGHTS server — there is no database to store them in. To stop one person from asking too many times in a short period, the server briefly counts requests per internet address (IP) in memory. That count disappears when the server restarts and is not linked to what you asked. When something fails, a minimal technical record (time and type of error) may appear in the server log.
3. What is kept in this browser only
These four are never sent to our server and stay in the browser you are using: (1) rights information you saved with the star, (2) items you ticked in a checklist, (3) your display settings (text size, light or dark), and (4) whether you already pressed “Was this helpful?”. An AI conversation is held in the tab you have open and disappears when you close it. None of this is visible on another device or browser.
4. If you want to delete what is saved
Saved rights information can be removed on the “Saved” screen, and a checklist with “Clear all ticks”. An AI conversation disappears when you press “New question” or close the tab. To clear everything at once, delete this site’s data in your browser settings. None of it is ever sent to our server, so there is nothing for you to ask us to delete. If you want a question or enquiry you sent through the site deleted, tell us its reference number at the contact address below and we will delete it.
5. What the “Was this helpful?” button sends
Pressing it sends only these four: (1) helpful or not, (2) the language of the page, (3) which topic or which rights information it was, (4) whether the AI answer used registered material. The question and the answer are not sent, and we cannot tell who pressed it. It is kept only as counts — on which day, in which language, for which topic, how many people found it helpful or not — and is used only to see which answers help. No question or answer text is stored. If you do not press it, nothing is sent.
6. How we handle what you send us
You can send a question, a join enquiry or a correction straight from the site. What you send is stored where only the LINKRIGHTS team can see it, and we keep five things: (1) your message, (2) the title, (3) the language of the page, (4) the date, and (5) contact details, only if you filled them in. Your internet address (IP) is used briefly to stop one person sending too many messages and is not stored with your message. Join enquiries need contact details so that we can reply; questions can be sent without them. After we answer a question, only what the team chooses to post appears on the question board, with anything that could identify you removed. If you are under 14, please send it together with a guardian or a teacher. You can still write to us by email instead.
7. What the community stores
When you sign in with Google we do not store the account id Google gives us. We mix it with a secret and store only the resulting value, which cannot be turned back. We neither request nor receive your name, email or profile picture. Alongside it we store only: (1) the nickname the site gave you on your first visit, which you can change; (2) the text and time of your posts and comments; (3) a record that you pressed report. Only the nickname is shown, and neither other users nor the team can tell who is behind it. You can delete your own posts and comments at any time with the delete button. If you want the account itself removed, write to our contact email and we will delete the nickname and everything you wrote. Reported posts are hidden automatically for the team to check, and posts that break the rules may be deleted. Community pages are kept out of search results.
8. Please do not enter these
Do not enter your name, contact details, address, passport number, alien registration number, visa number or medical records. Describing the situation is enough. We check for such details before sending and warn you, but we cannot catch every case.
9. Finding help near you and location data
Your browser asks for your location only when you press the "Find help near me" button. Simply opening the page never asks. The coordinates are used only inside the browser you are looking at, and only to work out which of Korea's 17 provinces is closest. The coordinates are rounded to one decimal place (about a 10 km square) as soon as they arrive, so they cannot show which city, district or neighbourhood you are in. They are never sent to the LINKRIGHTS server, never stored and never given to anyone else; they disappear when you close the page. We do not show distances such as "1.2 km" either. If you do not allow location, you can pick an area yourself and use the same feature, and you can withdraw the permission at any time in your browser settings.
10. One cookie for language, visits counted anonymously
This site carries no advertising and uses no tracking cookies. The only cookie is the one that remembers the language you chose (lr-locale); it is used only to show the site in that language next time and never identifies you. One more cookie exists for the team when they log in to the admin screen; it is never created on the pages you see. To see how many people use which pages, we use a visit-counting tool (Vercel Web Analytics). It sets no cookies and discards the temporary marker it builds from the incoming request after 24 hours. What remains is the page address, how you arrived, a rough country or city level location, and the device and browser type — it cannot tell who you are. Search words and the area you pick appear only in the address bar and are not stored on the server. If you sign in to the community, one cookie (lr-community) keeps you signed in and is removed when you sign out. It holds only our own member number, not your nickname or name.
11. External links
The official websites we link to are run by those organisations. Their handling of personal data follows their own policies.
